Facebook has rolled out yet another app. Have you seen the Create Room button or been asked if you would like to explore rooms? Well I took it out for a test ride. I have to say I liked it. I will share my experience later. But right now, here is what it is all about.
Host group video calls.
Group video calls help foster a sense of virtual community when you’re doing things like hosting a meeting or training or creating an exclusive experience for customers. Messenger Rooms are joinable video calls that make it easy for anyone to bring groups of employees and customers together to connect and meet face to face. While Rooms can’t be created from Facebook Pages, individuals can create a room from Messenger or Facebook and invite anyone to join, even if they don’t have a Facebook account or the Messenger app. Rooms will be able to support up to 50 people soon. There’s no time limit, and rooms can be locked or unlocked to give you control over if others can join your call. You can also remove people from the call.~ Facebook for Business
So, in a nutshell, it is still Messenger Video Call, just saying it is a room. I guess it is their way of showing you don’t have to use Zoom or Skype to make video calls. You can also invite up to 8 people if you want to create a room for your Facebook group page. Great if you have a small group, but not helpful if you have a large group that comes on. This feature is not available on your business page yet.
It is new. Personally, I cannot use from my laptop, Facebook is not recognizing my webcams or microphones. So, use my mobile phone. Personally, I would not use this for business anything at this time, unless it is just easier for the other person to connect. But it is great for group chats with family and friends. I know the Nursing Homes are connecting loved ones using this. For that it is great.
I have done a chat with a few friends. It was easy to set up. You are given a link you can share. fun to just schedule a time to talk and chat. One plus for this is if you want to do a LIVE from your personal page, you can invite all your friends and they can join in. So only the people that want to join in can. A great example, if you are direct sales, you could have a flash sale and people can join you, but they can ask questions on air, not in chat.
So I suggest, go check it out. See how you might be able to use. Let me know if you want to test it out. We can have a coffee chat or something 😊
I’ll do a TUTORIAL and have ready for you next week
I hope you found this information helpful.
