Happy New Year!
3 Basic Hacks for Mobile Video
We are already one week into 2019! Gasp! Time flies!!! Have you started to work your goal list yet or still playing catch up from being in holiday mode?
Here at Ellie, we are working on our goals right out of the gate. One of our biggest goals for 2019 is using more LIVE style videos to connect with our people. Live video is a great way to grow your following, your community and best of all your influence.
Just start with your phone, but I do suggest using a tripod. I beg you to use the tripod; a handheld video is shaky and honestly makes me seasick..it will help your viewers too. So shot good video so viewers will enjoy your great content.
So with this in mind, I thought I would share three simple LIVE HACKS for the mobile phone.
These are simple reminders, but sufficient to “appear” better when you go LIVE.
1. Decide if you are going to shoot vertical or horizontal. Either way is fine. People view so much content on their mobile devices until they don’t notice anymore. Also, social media does not rank one style over the other. The most important thing is to remember is where to look! That leads me to #2!
2. On Facebook Live, you can practice your video before you go live! How do you do that? 2 ways.
-
When you select the live icon, Facebook automatically takes you to video mode, BUT NOT LIVE! You can practice here, use it to see where you need to look and anything you might want to consider before going LIVE. I talk about more things to consider in the next point.
-
Go to settings for Live and choose who can see your video, look for the option ONLY ME. Here you can practice and record yourself. Use to elevate not only what you say, but how you look on camera. Maybe you need to adjust your eyes to where you are looking, your hair, and something out of place in the background. Which leads me to #3?
3. Framing! Make sure you are framed in the shot. Look closely of objects or lighting that show up in the background. Make sure nothing is sticking out of your head. Again use your phone as a mirror. This is a good time to play with effects for better lighting. On iPhones, you can use a mirror set to flip your image, so you are not “opposite” on camera!
I hope you find this information helpful — just a few facts that show the power of video on mobile alone.
-
Over half of video content is viewed on mobile.
-
Ninety-two percent of mobile video viewers share videos with others.
So don’t leave yourself out in the cold. If you would like to become more comfortable in front of the camera, I do offer consultations and teach you not only how to appear in the video, but to use to your best promotional uses.
